 Along the same vein as shorter reed...try making usual-length reeds with shorter tips - this will improve the balance between the lower and upper registers, and will help center the high notes.
 Try also having a "double" tip. In other words, you have your heart at around 61 to 66, or thereabouts, and then you have some definition into a moderately thin tip, and then finally a little more definition in the last 1-2 mm, making only the last hair of the tip super thin.
