I did the 10 / 12 to try to represent 10 months of activity. I'll recheck my math and apply the annual value * 10/12.

I am using CJWright's 300 per month Weber number as a reference point.

I agree I would not be happy with my reed after one sitting, at least not the next day. I usually need three passes to get the reed settled down, where the reed drys out completly between sittings but passes two and three happen in just a couple minutes (after soaking... a few long tones, then scales and arps for a minute or so, then knife work which takes 2 - 5 more minutes). I usually let a day pass between sittings but should alo try just a couple hours and see if alll three passes can happen in the same day.

I know some player/reed makers that don't adjust the reed much if at all once its a 'reed'. They just play it to death. I like to continue to fuss with reeds as they age, perhaps not like but find it necessary. I am trying the other approach to see how long I can remain happy w/o bringing out the knife... but I tend to think a little clip of the tip, I mean very little is needed as reeds reah middle age. I mean clip just the spit off the tip, then drag corners across dull silicone paper a couple times. I find it revitalizes them a bit.

This also leads me to conteplate a 'user's guide' or 'owner's manual' sheet to help players get the most useful life out of the darn things.
