Hi, everybody! Hi Susan!
Well, guess what? I stuck the reed in as far as it would go, and wow! I had no idea it would go in further, but it is going pretty good now! Close. I have yet to check what the tuner is doing, but at this point, I thought I should work at making some notes first in order to have something to check...LOL.
Also, it was pointed out to me (here at home) that when I play some notes that as I hold it and it, the note, will go a bit flat, so now I understand more about what folks here are talking about when they are talking about the constant air pressure or flow. In a sense, it is like the instrument is singing, and needs constant air flow.
By the way, regarding all this with the air flow, once one is better on the oboe, will they have the option to play softer or will it always be quite loud? I don't mind loud, just wondering (because of some comments that were made, made me wonder about this; hence, the question). I do like loud.
By the way, has anyone (of course I have not!!!) run their oboe or clarinet through subharmonic processors to see what it would do?
