The Oboe BBoard

Well, now you have me all confused because I was always told that Prestini oboes were themselves just a "stencil" of another make. Nobody has been able to give me a definitive answer on who actually made the oboes, although Orsi was listed as a prime suspect, due to similarities of keywork and bores. So when you say that the earlier "B" series were made by Prestini, it sounds to me like they were made by Orsi (or someone else), finished by Prestini, and then reworked and refinished by Howarth. What? So I'm confused--but I'd be happy to hear that what I had been previously told about Prestini is wrong, because nobody has ever given me much of a good answer. (I own a mid-seventies Prestini.)
