If the winter is seriously drying out your reeds you can wrap the base of your reed (~mid-window down) with saran wrap, plumbers tape, or fishskin to help stop water from being drawn out so quickly.
Try preparing a fresh reed after you have a break in band rehearsal as the reed you were using will not re-hydrate as well as a fresh reed will.
And if your winter is REALLLY bad... break out a closed hole flute and heated gloves. You can put some scotch tape on the far end of the embouchure hole for a woody unique sound.
