Yes, Erik and Chris, thus far I have found that the cor is considerably more forgiving than the oboe. Maybe like the comparison of saxophone to clarinet?
I enjoy playing cor first, then going to oboe. It helps my hands open up, it gets my air going. The oboe feel quite small, in comparison.
Just now, a member of my WW5 dropped around with a new piece he has written for our group -- featuring the cor in place of the oboe. It's quite lovely -- can't wait to try it.
