It's split down the grain from the tip right down to the binding, but it's still holding up and sealing well.
I thought it had it when I split it (I squeezed the sides for more opening one rehearsal and it cracked), but as it's not an open split, it still held a vacuum and still worked, I thought there's no point in chucking it away - several months down the line and it's still going strong. Response, volume, tuning, diminuedos down to ppp are all still positive with this one.
But I'm trying to find more reeds that can replace this one as I know it's not going to last forever. Easier said than done - they're either too resistant or too easy, too buzzy, too wide an aperture, too close, too bright...
