Oh OK I see what you mean. I am definitely in the American school, where the ideal of sound production is making the reed do as much as possible for you so you (i.e. it is more stable, responsive and has a nicer tone with less lip work) and the ideal sound that you're looking for is a very dark sound. The ideal tone is very round/fuzzy/soft (as in not harsh or grating) with as dark a sound as possible. What sort of sound does the 'dutch pattern' aim for? is it a more French-style (brighter tone) or more of a German style (darker, heavier, reedier tone)? I've never heard of this 'dutch pattern'.
