I agree with Chris's water-in-the-octave vent diagnosis. If it's really retaining water, then maybe somebody can pull the vents for you and clean them out.
On the other hand, the one-and-only time that this happened to me, it turned out that the two main joints had slipped SLIGHTLY off kilter (too much cork grease, or maybe it was in the winter, when things had shrunk, or maybe it was just one of those things). At any rate, it sure didn't play, and I was in a panic. I didn't see the problem right away, either.
So, maybe just take it apart and put it back together.
Could also be some sort of spring thingy, I suppose. These darned beasts have a secret life that they don't tell us about . . .
