"Chunkier? How said?"
Howarth instrument generally have dimentionally larger touchpiece castings in comparison to the equivalent key castings found on Loree, Marigaux, Rigoutat, Buffet, Yamaha, Fossati, Bulgheroni, Fox, Dupin, etc.
Compare a Howarth with a Loree or Marigaux and you'll notice the keywork is much 'chunkier'. I don't know a better word to describe it.
I quite like the slightly larger touchpieces on Howarths, especially the low B/Bb/Eb cluster (or 'feathers') - probably as I have fairly large hands.
