Ok, I'll admit that I stay in a state of confusion quite often but I'm more confused than usual on this reed business. So, here are a couple of questions...
Some of you make reeds daily, yes? And/or you play on new reeds daily, yes? And why is that exactly??? Does that mean that you're only playing on any given reed for say, three hours, and then it goes in the trash? And why is that?? Does the reed not last longer than 3 hours, or is there a specific sound difference after the 3 hour limit? Or is the responsiveness of the reed not good after 3 hours? And, if the reed is only good, for (whatever reason) for 3 hours (and this is a ramdom time limit - the 3 hours, since it could be 5 or 2 or whatever) - then why is that exactly? Are you producing 3 hour reeds, as opposed to 10 hour reeds or 20 hour reeds? And how does that work? And what is the difference between the reed that can play for 3 hours, as opposed to the one that can play for 15 or 20 hours?
I cannot make reeds (not at this point anyway) and I certainly cannot afford to buy enough reeds to play on a new one every day (Bill Gates is not a close relative of mine), so I'm trying to sort out this "new reed a day" business......
Help?
