I wish one of that either Yamaha or Loree would start making professional oboes out of good quality plastic. I know that Loree used to back in the late 70's early 80's as I remember. I don't think there'd be any real downside insofar as tone is concerned, after all, Jan Eberle played on an all-plastic Loree (E or F series I think) for a long time when she was principal oboe in Ft. Worth. The thing is, they'd have to make them in enough quantity that there would be several to choose from, and preferably they'd be made from a plastic formulation that would be stable over a very long term -- I don't think we know yet how well Greenline will hold up over a long period of time.
