 Reed styles

As I'm sure many of you know, there are many styles of reeds and playing, French, German, American ect. I am gradually beginning to be able to tell the difference in sound and style, but one thing which obviously plays a big part of sound is the reed, can anyone here explain the differences in the reeds that these "schools" of playing use, or possibly provide a link with pictures?
