When you bent the crook, how did you do it? The interior is a tapered tube and the bore should be maintained as to size and circularity.

If the tube is allowed to collapse at all to a non-circular shape, that would perhaps affect the wavefront moving through the tube.

If you can't reach Hiniker, perhaps Mark Chudnow (MCW) or one of the other good repair folks could offer some advice.

I have small hands also and got some relief by using an adjustable thumb rest and neck strap and changing the horn angle a bit to be more like an oboe position.
