 Re: Playing a Caldwell Loree

I had a Caldwell Loree for a while and also studied with a Caldwell model player. He uses 47mm tubes with an original gilbert 1, and other tips in that width range, finished quite long, 71 or even longer.

I was experimenting with tube length a lot back then, but for 47mm tubes I tended to like things on the wide side with a lot of belly, like a Brannen X. Then again, I don't think I sounded very good on it, so perhaps I'm not a good example!

They're pretty touchy with reeds with respect to tone, but not at all touchy with respect to pitch - there's very little chance of being flat.
