 Exercises? Not really.
 
 I once remarked to my teacher that oboists must, as a group, have tighter abs than most.
 
 She looked at me quizzically, and said that there are a lot of very good, UNFIT,  oboists. So, I stand corrected.
 
 But if you will (consciously, at first) tighten your abdominal muscles just as you are about to begin a note or a phrase, you will notice that your air flows much more consistently, without undue interference from lip or throat pressure.
 
 The AIR is what it's all about.
