 Re: Timbre...

At the moment I really can't complain, I am studying in the netherlands with ernest rombout (I adore his records he studied with Holliger and Bourg) and yesterday I met Heinz Holliger for the first time in my life...I was not able to speak for minutes which seemed to be hours..
But I had bad teachers for almost 11 years and last year (I played 25 projects) I played 2nd in Mozart's Magic Flute and La Finta Giardiniera, amazing music, we all know, but the conductor just asked us the whole year for an unbearable piano, so my years in Austria damaged me so much in being a performer, that I decided to give this all up, all the operas, the big concerts we don't have here, just to free myself and finally I think it's going to work out. I think it is a pitty that I didn't realise before that I had teachers that damaged more than they helped me, it took me a long time, although I always knew that I love this instrument more than anything, so in these times I hope all of you take care of your education earlier!
Can you give me some names of american oboists, I know just a few and I would like to investigate this style maybe too, because I really like the dark sound we don't have in my hometown, but I try not being "too german" , which means for me being dark till a certain point, but the sound has to swing and cerculate all around to show what you are really. The problem is just I am really so bad in making reeds....
I would love to make a cours in the US, but you know the expenses are now so much in the Netherlands, so I have to wait some time, till I have my basic stuff done. Do you know if there are any scholarships offered?
And by the way: I wish you all the best for the concert, enjoy it as much as you can, because you will have this certain situation just for some moments...it can be great and it will be!
