Thanks everyone for your input. I certainly have a lot to use to try to solve this problem.
To Mfj:
1). I am pulling the oboe closer to me to play up high. Reason being the reed does not speak in that register when I try to play it. I wonder if that is not a problem either with my embrouchure or with the way I make reeds. I will definitely try to fix this problem first.
2). I'm tying on as long as the reed will let me, usually around 72-73mm. I'm definitely not biting, which is good I think.
3-6). The blend seems to be consistent with Weber book pictures. All other factors are probably not causing the issue, or if they are, not to the extent that exists currently.
To Craig:
1). The crows on my reeds are slightly flat, although I've just altered my tip scrape technique a bit, so maybe that will help with the newer reeds I'm working on.
2). Throat is open and air stream well supported, although I am still moving the focus around a bit as it is a new feeling for me.
3). I think taking in too much reed may be the problem. One reason is that the reed seems to close up in that register, or not speak. Maybe I need to bring the tip end and blend closer together to keep the reed open. This would also bring up the pitch of the crow and may solve all my problems.
Thanks Chris and JRC for your input.
