I am not married to any make or brand. There are many good ones these days.
I currently favor Covey oboe and play Loree Ehorn, but had great impressions of new Loree, Marigaux and Howarth oboes in particular at the IDRS last summer. I went in search of a magical ehorn bocal but that did not pan out.
I tried several different makes at IDRS this past summer, oboe and english horn and was convinced I could play, say 8 out of 10 in concert the same night w/o even having to adjust my reeds.
I was really amazed by that impression. Plus some legacy models, even my old teacher's Laubin ehorn from 25+ years ago was in great shape, although too expensive.
Good luck with your search, there are many good choices.
I would probably stay away from Fox ehorns, though.
