Hi,
I don't use it for regular reed making; although, I could use it in that manner. The blade sharpens easily and nicely. I always sharpen my knives as I make reeds ........... it is continuous (ceramic sticks).
By the way .... I must apologize .... My knife is just a folding knife .... not a fancy swiss knife ...... it has a straight blade.
