Hi,
I have been in contact with Dan Ross. What great customer service (as always)!
I asked him if he made blades/curves for specific instruments - etc ...... since in the past when I first purchased the gouger I owned a regular bore Loree LW series ..... and now I play a Marigaux 901.
Without any prompting - he asked me a series of questions: shaper tip, staple, tie length, finished reed length - questions about the Oboe; that night - he already had some sample gouged cane (new curve) to send me to try - based upon the variables I provded! WOW!!!
So once I get my the problem with my Oboe looked after - I will make new reeds with the new gouge and see what happens. I see I have a true partner with Dan. I look forward to working with him and I also trying some double radius gouged cane (and may buy another machine too).
This is quite exciting ............... one more Oboe variable to "fuss" about.
I think we (oboists) are a bit nuts in the head.
