I will assume all other variables are correct: cane, gouge, tie, staples, etc...

I have found that a reed may play sharp if the tip/blend is not distinct - especially in the corner of the blend tip. If your tip blend is too gradual this may be a problem.

Of course, if the blades of the reed are too close together you may also get a sharp reed. This is a problem with many causes - the cane diameter, gouge, tie, staple, and/or scrape .... etc.

Please provide more information.
