I have never oiled any of my oboes or my english horns.
I have played my instruments in dry, heated air in winter to the 80% humidity of summer and I have never cracked one of my instruments (I have cracked 2 EH's, none of which I owned but that is another story).
Needless to say, I don't think oiling the bore is necessary and I won't ever do it to any instrument I own. I, personally, think cracking is more due to deficiencies in the wood rather than environmental reasons. Just my input feel free to disagree, I won't be offended.
