TYO,

Congratulations on your audition success!

I guess in the best of all possible worlds, I would say go for both orchestras.

But there are always extenuating circumstances, right?

IIRC, you are still in high school. So when you say you are taking 10 hrs. of college credit, you are taking that IN ADDITION to your high school studies?

That is a lot, plus lessons, reedmaking, and (one hopes) an hour or two for personal practice daily.

Here are two things I would consider:

First, you are involved in several activities based in a number of different organizations and locales. Each one of those has its own "culture," for want of a better term. That in and of itself creates demands upon you, personally. We know that one cannot "be all things to all people". Can you handle simultaneously being your parents' daughter, the community orchestra's oboist, your high school's student, your college's student, the school orchestra's oboist, your oboe teacher's pupil, AND still have time to be your own best friend, to take care of yourself?

Second, how do YOU work best? Do you accomplish the most (quality as well as quantity) when you are under pressure, with barely enough time to think about what you are doing? Or do you accomplish the most when you have time for serendipity, for random thought, exploration, and creativity? Are you a "Type A" or "Type B" personality? Lots of structure, or less structure?

If you thrive under pressure, then doing everything seems like a good choice. If you get frantic under pressure (which, for better or worse, is what happens to me), then you might want to opt for a slower pace.

Best wishes to you!

Susan
