Since you are beginning to make reeds yourself, I would recommend that you keep at this with your teacher's reeds being a model for now.

If you have the $$, of course you may order what you will, but I think you need to have a definite sense of exactly what you want in a reed and know how to evaluate and/or adjust the reeds that you buy.

I've been making reeds for years, and every once in awhile I order a professionally made reed, mostly to learn from it.

There are many good reed-making resources for free, like the ASU web site (arizona state university) for oboe. Get familiar and at ease with the process before you invest in pro-made reeds, if you can.
