If you decide to make jump rings, make them so the diameter is less than 7 mm (more like 6.5mm).If by any chance the ring is a little tight at the bottom of the well, and does not want to get out easily (this is the reason it should be around 6.5 mm diameter), do not panic, you may use a little knitting needle as a hook to get it out.
If you normally do not have a problem being sharp then I tend to agree with HautboisJJ (Howard), in my experience I have not have any problems when pulling out 1-1.5 mm.
I use to have a student who used to play a Buffet, which was constatly sharp (I think it had been made for the German market) for which I had to use a more permanent solution.
