Hi Robin,
Yes, I really enjoyed the repertoire! And I must say, it was nice to approach some of the repertoire for a different angle this time, i.e. not from the flute section!
The camp is 8 days long, but I unfortunately had to leave early due to my partner attending a course elsewhere. We had 1 hour of 2nd orchestra in the morning (which I did every day), 1 1/2 hours of top orchestra, or chamber music if you weren't in that orchestra (I either played flute in the top orch or oboe in chamber music), a session of chamber music that included an ensemble for those just learning instruments (I played bassoon for the first time in a year or so!) and another chamber session which usually ran for just over an hour and contained the larger chamber works (octets, Strauss Serenade, Dvorak Serenade, etc). There were also events on in the evenings such as the Mozart Grand Partita, a concert band session, Schubert Mass (with impromptu choir and orchestra), etc.
I think on my biggest day I played 3 hours of oboe, 1 1/2 hours of flute and an hour of bassoon. Let's just say I couldn't whistle that night! But it sure does wonders for endurance. I developed an ability to recover very quickly and could launch into another successful hour of wind quintet after a half hour break between sessions.
