 First "real" solo

I played my first "real" solo last night in church after only 6 months of lessons. It was 10 measures long. In the summer when an oboe solo part appeared in the music, I asked the clarinetist to accompany me as I was "chicken" to do it by myself. Last night, she told me "You can do it!!" It was definitely scary, but turned out well. Now, I may not feel quite so fearful of doing more in the future. It's amazing what 5 months of lessons with a GOOD instructor can do for you. The first month of lessons I had a LOUSY instructor. She scolded me more than taught me. My current one is very patient and corrects my errors in a more gentle way.
