Cooper is right; never blow into a cold oboe, or any other woodwind instrument for that matter. Best method for quickly warming up a cold oboe is to place the top & middle tubes (one under each arm…vertically, armpit to elbow) for about five minutes. Top tube: tenon (cork end) down. Middle tube: tenon (cork end) up. Then gently blow into the top of the assembled oboe for about 30 seconds before inserting reed & beginning to play.
