I'm having a hard time slurring to the left E-flat at the bottom of the treble clef staff. I'm practicing this Günter Raphael quartet where there are slurs from the C below the staff to left E-flat, and from the D-flat in the staff to the left E-flat. The note just won't speak as easily as it does when I slide to the right E-flat. Sometimes it warbles, sometimes it briefly speaks then cuts out, only to return a half-second later.
I went through the Sawicki guide to see if there was some regulating screw that was out of adjustment, but I can't find anything that helps.
Then I figured it was maybe just that in activating the left E-flat with my left hand, I was shifting my left hand to cause a leak in the upper joint, so I focused on keeping the rest of my left hand centered over the keys and keeping a steady pressure, but I'm still having problems.
I also entertained the idea that it was faulty synchronization between my right and left hands, and I'm still working with that possibility, but the odd thing is that, if I get the warble, it continues well after all my fingers are in position.
Of course I could just do the right-hand slide, but I thought this is the sort of thing that the left-hand E-flat was there for. Any suggestions?
