I keep all my reeds for long-term storage in lined tin pencil boxes, which are not airtight; only the reeds I am actually taking with me to a "gig" go in the snap-shut Fox non-ventilated reed case.
Perhaps I am not the only one who does this? So maybe reed cases don't need to be ventilated, if the reed is only going to be in there a short period?
