I know that reed styles vary slightly for my Gordet (symphony instrument) vs my Jarde, which I use for pit orchestra/small ensemble.
I think it's best to take each instrument and player and scrape the reed to fit, rather than making blanket statements about what works for Laubin or Loree etc.
In other words, I believe the oboe is capable of such variation as to make it a truly individual instrument, unique to each player. For me, this is wonderful. For an advanced amateur or professional with a preference for a certain style/tone playing in a local orchestra, it can be frustrating.
