Essentially, you are applying oil to oil. Naptha comes from petroleum & according to the specs, there is also petroleum in Woodwind All. John Mack used to spray the stuff into his oboes. At least if you think it does no good, it certainly does no harm either. Check out the Wikipedia naptha page for further info. I use it mainly as a tone hole lubricant & pad cleaner. For this it works great. Spray on a pipe cleaner, not directly into the hole, as the directions say on the Forrests Woodwind All aerosol cans.
BTW never said to pour naptha laundry soap on the oboe.
