Chris P, I've always wondered whether a crack is pinned at partial rather than full thickness, and if there's any way to save an oboe which has developed a full thickness crack (surface to bore).

I'm no technician, just curious.

And I know that sinking feeling one has when one discovers a crack, whether or not it's reparable.

PS. I bought a cracked/pinned Jarde and it plays beautifully.
