... make oboe very warm by cosying it up to you under a TV blanket for about 15-30 minutes while watching a movie, then try again to take it apart
do not use any other form of heat, not a fire, not a hair drier -- your own body heat is best
hopefully a nice warm oboe will make yesterday's grease soft enough to pull apart without much trouble
prevention tips
before putting away, check the joints and clean off any 'grease gunk' that may have collected in the crease or around the tenon, push a small piece of rag with bamboo skewer or wood manicure stick to remove it, don't use anything that can scratch wood or metal and be very careful not to chunk off any cork
after cleaning any gunk, if any, check the cork, does it look dry-ish and/or does it have lots of 'friction' between your fingers? If so, work in liberal grease with warm fingers, fill the pores but don't leave any grease on surface, before putting oboe away
tomorrow, regrease the cork just before assembly, work it in, and if cork's really dry, do that a second time before assembling, and continue this practice until the cork feels smooth and supple in a few days or weeks from continual applications
take oboe apart while it's still warm, especially if the air temperature is cool at this time of year where you are
if you want to practice several times a day and leave the oboe out between each practice, then make the last practice of your day the longest one, so that the oboe's fully warm when it's time to take it apart and put it away for the night
hope warming the oboe will release top joint for you OK
