 two main differences that spring to mind immediately are:
 
 open throat shouldn't be adjusted to tune notes on oboe, must train vocal cords to stay open and relaxed for a low 'drone' note, to ensure open airway for good air support all the time, even when automatically thinking higher notes
 
 can't exhale sufficient volume of CO2 stale air through small oboe mouthpiece like can do with most other wind instruments or singing, oboe playing is like swimming under water holding one's breath -- so must learn to breathe with emphasis on exhalations rather than inhalations, and train the muscles to do rapid breath exchanges -- quietly :-)
 
 so, the breath technique for oboe needs to focus on EXHALE-inhale -- the opposite of normal breathing
