Just wondering if anyone else has ever encountered this.
I bought a batch of four reeds last spring from a reputable reedmaker. When I got them, I went through them, played them, found that they were satisfactory, and since at the time I already had a superfluity of good reeds (ah, happy luxury!) , I put the new reeds aside in the Pending box.
I got them out yesterday, went through them--and they would hardly play; I had to transfer them to the "Umm..." box.
Not good, eh?
So, what are the chances that it's my embouchure that's changed so much that these reeds will no longer work for me? Or does a reed's profile change if it's tucked away in storage and not played on (i.e. kept moist)?
