It could work in several ways:

 (1) You could make a collar that fits around the bottom of the bell, with 3 or 4 rods mounted on it in an inverted pyramid shape and the floor peg at the (downward-pointint) tip of the pyramid.

 (2) You could mount a peg holder on the side of the bell.

 (3) You could mount a peg holder at the bottom of the lower joint at the rear. The peg could then:

 (a) point down at an angle (to miss the bulge in the bell). You would then need to hold the instrument out at an angle; or

 (b) curve the peg in the shape of half a letter S to go around the bell and continue straight to the floor.

I'm not suggesting that this should be done -- only wondering whether it has been done.
