I expect that if you are adept with a reed-knife and know how to keep it truly sharp, you will probably find all of these solutions (sandpaper, nail-files, reed-rushes, glass reed resurfacers etc.) a bit superfluous.

Nevertheless, I'm sure there are as many opinions as readers on this board ...
