My name is Scott and I am getting ready to be a senior in high school. As of now, I plan on pursuing a career playing the oboe. Having these ambitions, my parents just recently bought me my first wooden oboe. This instrument was a Chauvet BW series oboe and according to my teacher, they are phenomenal instruments. After play testing it against my current Fox 330, I concluded the Chauvet BW series oboe was indeed phenomenal! I've had the instrument for a month now, and just the other day when I was cleaning it, I noticed what I thought looked a lot like a crack! This being my first wooden oboe, I wasn't sure if it was the grain of the wood or a crack; so I had to turn here! I've attached 3 photos of the "thing" in question.
My point....
-----------------------
1.) Is it a crack?
2.) Does it need to be repaired?
3.) If so, how can I get it fixed!?
Thank you so much!
Scott
Okay, so the photos didn't attach, but can you maybe tell me ways I can distinguish between cracks and the grain of the wood?
Thanks!
