Ah! The good old days . . .
(I worked for 20-odd years -- and yes, some of them WERE odder than others, thanks for asking -- as a minister of music. I didn't have the seat-of-the-pants affliction detailed here, perhaps because I served congregations where the order of worship was set in stone, or perhaps because neither our pastoral leadership nor our musicians would have countenanced it.)
But I've got to say, even in the best of circumstances, working in the music ministry does give you a perspective on the church quite different from that gained in the pew. A true test of faith!
