jrestes -- interesting idea -- can't quite picture what you mean, use tape to line around the inside of the bell circumference (that's longer than 2") or 1-2" strip only in a strategic place inside the rim of the bell? Top side of the bell where it won't get wet?
dutchy -- yamaha 441 -- haven't passed this problem past my repair guy yet, i'd been muddling along with it, thinking i needed more time to get myself right for the note, but i figure i've done my best and it's time to review the situation
and no, i'm not planning to sand down the rim end of the tenon myself, it was just a passing thought, would that kind of idea work?
i was thinking of upgrading in the next 2-3 years to a full conservatory instrument anyway, i don't want to pursue major innovations on current instrument, it's been very servicable for my learning curve and playing opportunities to date, so i'll give the tape idea a go first ... although i'm mystified how it might work, do explain further?
