I tried it your way and it can be done...but I feel more comfortable doing it a slightly different way. I start the sequence on regular F and play the notes the normal way until I get to the forked F on the way down...then I play left hand Eb and hold the Eb as you suggest (but not the g sharp key) for the rest of the sequence. When I have to play the second G#, I get it with the pinky that's holding down the left hand Eb (without releasing the Eb) then go back to just holding the Eb down. I think I find it easier to coordinate the halfholes and octave key changes when I do it that way.
