Thanks for the link to the 2nd movement! That's some inspired playing by the NYPhil! I assume that's Thomas Stacy on the EH there - yeah, he's damn good. I had to laugh, though, when Liang Wang came in on that devilish running sextuplet entrance that's a challenge to any oboist (anyone who's played it knows exactly what I mean) and there's a little finger flub in it. Now, he plays beautifully throughout and his unison playing with the flute, melding into one instrument (the flobo), is just fantastic; but i have to admit he made my day with that finger flub! We are all mere oboe mortals. And what's that chipmunkish air in the cheeks thing going on with the 2nd oboe? (Is that Robert Botti?) I bet it helps for circular breathing - always got a little reserve going there.
