Hi,
I am playing Weber # 2 with my Community Orchestra and am looking for a short snappy Encore piece written for Clarinet and Orchestra or something that we can arrange for Clarinet and Orchestra. Something along the lines of Flight of the Bumble Bee (we've already played it), or even something jazzy or pop??
I've been playing for 40+ years and am a retired Music Teacher.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Adolf Schreiner's Immer Kleiner. It's a fun piece your audience is sure to enjoy, and it's quite a contrast to the Weber second!

Thanks clarinetguy!
Know it well, one of my favorites! Unfortunately I've played it a couple times with our community concert band so am looking for something different. It is real fun to ham it up when losing each section of your instrument... the audience loves it!

"..with my Community Orchestra.."
..so the audience won't be comprised of many clarinet purists right (people in the clarinet know otherwise highly particular about parting with convention)?
I ask because I once arranged just such a encore piece out of snipets of Mozart Mvmt #3 from its beginning, a couple of middle variations, and its ending.

The Scherzo from the Hindemith Concerto is light, witty, virtuosic and short. You'd need a great piccolo player. Listen to the Cahuzac recording.
The Finale of Ralph Hermann's Concerto for Doubles is very effective. It was written for Al Gallodoro and requires his dazzling technique, but if you're up to it, it's great fun.

But you'll have to rent the Hindemith -- hardly cost effective for a community orchestra to use a single movement as an encore. And lots of luck finding the Hermann which, if you can find it, will almost certainly also be a rental.
If you were willing to do an encore for clarinet solo without the orchestra (as soloists often do) you would increase your options dramatically. The first (I Got Rhythm) etude from Harvey''s Three Gershwin Etudes comes to mind. But there are many to choose from as you undoubtedly know.
Best regards,
jnk

Thanks for all the suggestions!
Not a lot of "clarinet purists" but it's a small community here in Northern Vermont so many of the same people come to the Band and Orchestra concerts... it's great that we are able to sustain both!
Just looking for something different so will research all of the suggestions and let you know what we decide on.
Thanks again!

Another idea is the final mvt of the Bartok Romanian Dances Sz. 68.
You can use the string orchestra arrangement and play the solo violin part.
