Hi, Jack:

Up until about 2:30 into the selection, some of the technical passages sounded rushed as if you anticipated them with some degree of dread or were distracted in some other way. The accompaniment also wasn't very accommodating in terms of matching its tempo to your performance.

At around 2:30, something just clicked--your began to play relaxed and with confidence, began to really "play through the horn", and the rest of the ensemble suddenly began to really listen and sync its tempo to your lead. The performance from that point forward was much more expressive, more musically nuanced, and a delight to listen to.

Overall, good show. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Thanks for the response. I think most of this probably has to do with nerves. Fortunately I was able to play this piece with another group before this performance, and I felt much more comfortable here, but as you can see i still 'choked' on some of the beginnings.

At 3:56, the A# to B trill - the B is very sharp in pitch, so you must be trilling with the RH Bb/A# Key still down. Try the 1/2 (index finger for top hand, middle for lower hand) fingering for the trill, or 1/1 (top finger of both hands) for the A#.

Fun piece for a Senior solo - I did it with my School's Orchestra back then, and an Orchestra that I had won their Concerto Comp. A blast to play!

Thanks for this suggestion. For some reason those fingerings just aren't very secure on my instrument, even when the bridge key is aligned.

I'm actually a sophomore. :)

Jack That was awsome. you are inspiring. I'm off to my clarinet lesson in a few minutes and listening to you is good motivation for me. I have a performance in about 3 weeks. Yikes!

if my teacher watches this, he would accuse you for playing with your head down.. cuz i do the same thing and he always yells me for that :)

according to him, it would affect your air flow.

beautiful performance overall though!

Nice job. Watch your tempo and play a shade more musically, by playing with expression and feeling. For example, if the score says "P", play softly same for "FF". I know you are young so keep up the good work. You could have a lot of fu in the music business.

for me I want some rubato to loosen things up. The tempo also is too rigid and making the music predictable.
