1. No. I don't even play every day.
2. No. I play the clarinet my folks got for me in '83 and a mouthpiece I got around '84 or '85. I have other mouthpieces which I did obsess over for about 2-3 years, but I'm stickin' with what I've got now...
3. No. But see #2. If it ain't broke, I ain't got the time or dough to fix it...
4. Yes. I am very fluent in many keys/scales/etc. even though I don't play them every day. The amount of time I obsessed over them in Conservatory, etc. has sufficed in my current profession.
5a & 5b. My difficulties right now are in memorizing complex tunes, not in playing them, so I don't have a good answer except to say that I do play the hard stuff slowly while I'm learning it.
6. profession. I teach and play in a Balkan folk music band, in addition to working part-time for health insurance.
