Hello,
I would like to know the exact model name(such as RC13) of my clarinet. Its engraving reads:
BUFFET Crampon
A PARIS
MADE IN FRANCE
and nothing about the specific model. The serial number is
147289. Thanks.

It should be an R-13 if there are no other significant markings. Lesser model Buffets will have an Evette and Schaefer emblem and the other models such as Prestige etc, will be indicated on the instrument.

When was the Evette and Schaefer line of Buffets made? I have a 70 year old Buffet and it is Boehm, but what line of Buffet is it in?

Kim: Any sub-title to your Buffet would be very difficult to name. That serial number would put it decades before the R-13. It probably has "undercut" tone holes, also, it probably has no set-screw mounted atop the throat "A" key.
My Buffet A-clarinet was made just before WW I, so stated Frank Kaspar of Ann Arbor told me. It also has an articulated G#. It's serial number is 103. A great clarinet with a bore like glass. Everybody who's played it wants to keep it. You should be very proud of your old Buffet. P.S. I don't believe in clarinets getting "blown out". All the Best. E. Thomas
