Defintely, I do. Sometimes I have problems with lung capacity but I still made it into all state Band/Orchestra/Jazz Band. (Jazz on Tenor Sax)
So don't let this bog you down, it just gets frustrating now and again.
Good Luck

Yes you can. The lady who sits next to me in community band has asthma. Her doctor has told her that playing her clarinet will actually help her. It strengthens the lungs and helps keep them a little clearer. Of course she does have to follow her doctor's instructions.
She also had a university clarinet instructor help her select a good quality, easy blowing mouthpiece so that the resistance of the horn and mouthpiece combo wouldn't be too great for her.

You can do it if you put your mind to it. I attend a music conservatory and know a number of people who are asthmatic and chose music for their profession. I also have a friend who plays the tuba and has asthma. If he can do it, you should be able to also!

I have asthma & play the clarinet too. My lung specialist has recommended to be active in sports (I do swimming) to build up a good general physical condition and to train the lung function.
An advantage that playing a wind instrument has, is that you will pay close attention to correct breathing. That is, no superficial respiration, expanding your chest, but breath deeply (expanding your belly) and well controlled.
My asthma is under control with light medication, and the last time it seriously bothered me was years ago.
It is important, however, to be careful not to play when you have actual respiratory problems: when I have a cold / cough, Iīm just not able to take a deep breath without starting to cough. Thatīs when you shouldnīt play.
Good luck!
