I feel like this.

The structure of BG ligature is a honeycomb-like thin plate plus cloth-like band. The thin plate shaped to touch the center of the reed stock enables somewhat freer or brighter tones. The synthetic cloth band is the natural result to support this thin film legs gently and straightly(minute deviation of position is corrected by its flexibleness.) If metal band is used, it cannot fulfill these conditions and the natural frequency of the ligature(band plus thin plate) becomes very much bigger.
